Tims 12 tags of Christmas Day 6

Hi Everyone

Well today it is Day 6 of 12 Tags of Christmas:

I never had any sticky back metal tape so used your run of the mill Kitchen foil with Humungo tape onto smooth card. I never had any of the paints really to speak of so used Claudine Hellmouth paints. And you have guessed it i never had the same embossing folder so i used the only Christmas one that i have ......I think this has been my least favorite technique since starting but managed to get the tag done so that was a bonus. Not sure i like the effect......due to the fact i probably have not done it right!!!........

Yes i know i never had the adornments either so stars is the key ....when i don't have anything i resort to stars !!
At work tomorrow so will probably catch up with you on Friday unless by some miracle i manage to get the tags done on time.

On a plus note Donkey done now so at least they are now out of the way!!! Can't wait for the play it will be awesome i think...

thanks for stopping by catch up with you tomorrow (fingers crossed ) take care Mandy x

Tims 12 tags of Christmas Day 5

Hi Everyone

Thanks for stopping by here is Day 5 of Tims 12 Tags

Where did the day go today?!!!

As you can see i never had any of tims reflection stamps so i tried his ghosting technique using my Artistic Stamper Stars background stamp.  I have never tried this technique before so was amazed how it came out .....don't they stars look bright . I did not have a Hambly studios  to go to so i decided to use one of the Alteration boxes and cut that up.....that was my starting point for the tag .....Then i pretty much followed what tim did added a bit of tinsel with some gems and a badly tied bow !!!!

In between doing all that the sheep costume is now done pillow case with 3 holes covered with two bags of cotton wool balls !! Black long sleeved top and black leggings underneath with some white slipper socks !! now then Any ideas for a donkey ......Sometimes it great to have twins sometimes its not!!!!

Catch you all tomorrow take care Mandy x

No Red or Green

Hi Everyone

Thanks for stopping by here is my entry into the Stamotique Designers Challenge.
For this one it is a create a Christmas card but do not use red or green and use a  Stampotique stamp...I used some Blue DI's to cover the background and a Christmas tree bordered it with mistletoe and added some buttons ......it turned out not to bad I think ....

Tis the star for top of Christmas tree I think ......
Well best get some housework done as been mincing around all morning making Tims tags and and this card ......Hope you like it catch up with you soon take care Mandy x

Tims 12 tags of Christmas Day 4

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for stopping by well i am back for Tim's Tag Day 4 :http://timholtz.typepad.com/my_weblog/2011/12/12-tags-of-christmastag-4.html

Today proved quite a challenge as still going along with just using what is in my stash and not purchasing anything and let me just say I never had anything really what he used!! The Snowman is a mask traced round on grunge paper and cut out by hand...... as is the snowflake...... as is the snowflake border ......here it is....

closer......
As the mask was a lot smaller than the die must have been i used a smaller tag.....but using smaller snowman brought different troubles....i could not use the numbers to cut a hole in his belly as the die would have cut him in half!!!!! So out with cutting numbers from the chip block alphabet set using lost and found paper stash and then covering them with glossy accents........were there is a will there is a way......I never had half of the distress stains that Tim used either so used stormy sky instead .....hope you like it as i am still loving the challenge of creating without purchase ....i am sure it will get more difficult to do as the days go on .........thanks for looking catch up with you tomorrow .....going to upload Stampotique Designer challenge now  have a great day take care Mandy x

Tims 12 tags of Christmas Day 3

Hi Everyone,

thanks for stopping by......

How are you doing today ? So its Day 3 of 12 Tags of Christmas link is here: http://timholtz.typepad.com/my_weblog/2011/12/12-tags-of-christmastag-3.html

I have still managed to carry on with the challenge without having to visit a shop for re-supplies. I have made up my mind that I am going to carry on every day with just the supplies i have.

For one i did not have any felt ......but just used my Big and Juicy Mountain Meadow which turned out Ok i think, I then went over the top with gathered twigs DI ....I did have the embossing folder though so embossed the image.

For the foliage i used tattered leaves die cut up and then added a few stones. I also did'nt have twine however i did have some bakers twine lying around. I did the double technique thing and its fab saves a lot of time so thank you for that Mr Holtz (Top Tip i feel)
So here it is Hope you like it will catch up with you again tomorrow sometime when we see what the next installment will be .....can't wait Bye for now take Care Mandy x

12 Tags of Christmas Day 2

Hello Everyone

Here I am again with the 2nd installment of Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas

Anyway here is my version, Its pretty much the same as Tim's this time as I seemed to have most of the products. I did'nt have the sticky canvass though so i used some spiral grunge board for the reindeer which I think adds a bit of interest ( which I am glad of as i had nothing else!!!) Again for the grunge board ridge at the bottom of the tag i used spell binders as my alterations dies are building very slowly and i found out that spellbinders will not cut through grunge board. So had to use some brown spotty card sanded down.

I need to brush up on my camera work i think!

So thats 2 days down and only 10 to go ......! This is my first year of doing 12 tags so am having some great fun finding ways to make the tags with just the stash that I have......

Thanks for stopping by will catch up with you for tomorrow's installment .

Oh products used Tim Seasonal Paper stash
Tim Tag and safety pin
Picket Fence distress
Spellbinder Edge-ability
winter DI's
Reindeer Alterations
Some tinsel and star and brads

Take Care Mandy x

Tims 12 tags of Christmas Day 1

Hi Everyone
Thanks for stopping by .....Well its Tims 12 Tags of Christmas http://timholtz.typepad.com/my_weblog/2011/11/12-tags-of-christmastag-1.html
So here is my take on day 1. I really wanted to follow closely what he did and use the same products but since i never had hardly any of them here is what i did instead ! Saves running to the craft shop!!

here is a closer look .....

So first i never had blue craft paper so out with the evergreen bough and inked the background .....i never had his embossing folder but i did have the seasonal one and you get  edges with that so i put that through the machine a couple of times .....then i never had the fancy Noel but i did have his grunge paper letters which i added some glitter to .....yes you have guessed i did'nt have his pine cone die but cool demonstration on video ..i did have some brown flowers and think they look quite a lot like pine cones ....i cut out some tattered leaves and then arranged them .....for the banner i had a stamp shaped like the banner die so used that on lost and found stash and cut it out........for the bling i cut up my children's broken princess jewelery which i am chuffed with as i never had to purchase anything for this tag it was all in my stash .......i like the finished effect...what do you think .......anyway off to do tag number two as i was working yesterday so this is a late entry.......catch you later on .......take care Mandy x

Stars, Bunting and Animals

Hi Everyone ,

How are you all? Thank you for all your  lovely comments on my post last week I was simply amazed how many people stopped by to have a look. This week I am entering my TAG into a few challenges as its coming near to Christmas i seem to be busy busy busy....and not in the good sense of crafting either....although all this crafting equipment and not managed to make a single Christmas card yet. Anyway i digress this is entered into

Simon Says Stamp and Show Stars as does Hels Sheridan over at Sunday Stampers
Allsorts Challenge Blog says Bunting or Pennants
Pan Pastel Says Animals ......ok so its not a massive animal or that's not the main image but if you look very closely there is a cat albeit a small one but hey .
Hels thanks for the top tip for Art Journaling managed to get on a taster session with Dyan and Kate next week ......your a wee gem.

I was in a brown mood  today so used all distress inks that had even a hint of brown before i did that though i picked up a tip from Lin Browns blog about putting some multi medium down first to create a bit of texture ......I really like how its gave the effect here so thanks Lin. Then I added some bitty grunge Tim Holtz stamps... the star and the wurly gig  (circles i mean) and then stamped with one of the Gorjuss stamps .......

And finally I had a molly bloom bunting stamp lying around so stamped that on to Tim Lost and Found paper stash and cut it out ....

So a straight forward entry this week but it will get worse before it gets better...... with 4 year old twins, who i have to make a donkey costume and a lamb costume by next week for their nativity eeeeek ...first one though so looking forward to it bring out the hankies i say !!!!

Thanks again for stopping by and i will catch up with you soon take care Mandy x

Simon says Stamp and Show some Tickets & Grungy Monday 28

Hi Everyone

Hope today catches you all well.  Today i have created a wooden block for Simon says Stamp and Show some Tickets and Linda over at Grungy Monday requests us to use a cool Tim Holtz Technique which he used on his pumkin challenge for ranger using metal, emboss and alcohol inks.. here is the link..http://timholtz.typepad.com/my_weblog/2011/11/rangers-great-pumpkin-challenge.html

So i wondered how i could combine both requests as sometimes nearer the end of the week i run out of time ( where does it go these days??!!) So I started with a blank arch wooden block :

First of all I cut out some sheet metal ....However i never had the sticky stuff so i had to make do......then i embossed it first with a cracked paving stone embossing folder and at the other side I embossed with Tim's edge dies out of his seasons one....I then glued it to the frame and then put the ranger alcohol inks down....colours used were sunshine yellow, cranberry and lettuce with a bit of blending solution and also with some gold mixative.....then just kept building it up .........The next challenge was how to incorporate the tickets .....mmmmmm..........So i got this fine girl from Art Rules by Wendy Vechi and thought she could do with some hair...........

So using the tickets out of Tims Lost and found Paper Stash and stamping a couple up I tried to give her some hair......then because the hair looked and reminded me of ........You know when you were young and you needed a haircut and sometimes your mum thought she was a great hairdresser and decided to cut it for you ....not quite getting it right and then to even it out getting out the mixing bowl ....lol .....oh no sorry was that just me that happened to.........any way the whole thing made me giggle so hence the ticket. Here is a close up of the bad hair day !!!

Right enough of this malarkey from me I am sure I have went on enough ...... Hope you like it and it at least either made you cringe thinking of the memory or laugh just at the sheer madness of it all!!!

Thanks for looking bye for now take care Mandy x

Sunday Stampers - Snowmen

Hi There

Thanks for stopping by

Today I managed to actually do Sunday Stampers on a Sunday ....there's a novel idea normally i just get it in in the nick of time!! I am also entering this into the panpastel UK challenge the link can be found here http://panpasteluk.blogspot.com/2011/11/panpastel-uk-challenge-9-frosty-and.html

So here is my Snowman .....can i just mention that i must have about one zillion stamps that i use everyday ..not ...and out of the zillion stamps i could not find a snowman so i had to revert to a mask!! Here is Tim Holtz's mask ......top tip do not get embossing powder underneath as said mask will no longer stick and will slide out of position causing you to use some bad language!!!!.
I coloured the mask with the new set of Winter distress inks they are so fab fab fab and i am sorry but my camera work is not up to much as they look better in real life. Then a bit of scratching went on and a bit more stamping .....never managed to do your ghosting technique though Hels so sorry about that maybe next time.....a bit more titivating then that's me before i ruin it.

a little closer !

I have just bought my first journal .......oh my...what fun i have been having with that.....no need to hold back at all there and i have been trying everything out .....think i need a fundamentals class though so on the lookout for that ......does anyone else do any art journaling and do you know of any blogs that are of interest in this field ...... or any classes for that matter ?
Anyway enough from  me hope you like the tag .....see you again , take care......Mandy x

Black and white Allsorts challenge

Hi Everyone ,

Thanks for stopping by.....

Simon says show some women and Sunday Stampers

Hi Everyone
Thanks for stopping by........ This entry is a strange one as i had took a bag of stash to work in the hope of creating the first project out of Wendy Vecchi project book number three only to find when i got there i did not have half the stuff i needed and another half of random stuff. So onward and upward...... it was a bonus that the stamp that i had with me was the girl with the dog .... I had no clue where this was going but did'nt think the end product was too bad.  I have just one question for you all............ Everytime i make something my fella says what is it for or where are you going to put it ......what do you do with all your wonderful creations?
I enjoyed making this ..... although it is a girl....... it is still classed women only aint it????

Hels does this count as pines and does it also count as my first frame? No where near your league but it was fun. All these firsts i have not made a card in ages lol . Wonder what will be next !

Catch up with you all soon take care Mandy x

Grungy Monday 27 Tim's 12 tags of christmas

Hi Everyone,

Well this week Linda over at Grungy Monday say's we have to create something using the techniques that tim did in his 12 days of Christmas 2007 day 6. Here's the link http://timholtz.typepad.com/my_weblog/2007/12/its-day-6---so.html I have'nt quite hit the Christmas spirit yet so i decided to go down another road.....not sure what road this was but it sure was fun!!!!

and one more sorry

I am rubbish at taking photo's!!

First i stamped up One of Tim's stamps in Sepia (no clue why that colour ) then i laid down some of the distress pearls. I used the same bottle as the last challenge as i only have one and still had some left.!

Then since this little fella had a crown on anyway i thought i would just add a bigger one with a mask and distressed over it with fired brick to make it stand out more.  I don't know what happened next..... i wanted to add everything in at once!!! Is it too much???

Anyway no need to mention who's products i used because i think apart from the bingo sheet it may have all been Tim Holtz or Ranger in some form or another..Hope you like it as i enjoyed making it. Now going to add something else over at simon says .......thats another story .....see you next week .....thanks for stopping by...... take care for now Mandy x

Grungy Monday 26 and Sunday Stampers

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for stopping by.....Today I managed to complete the Grungy Munday challenge 26 of Tims 12 tags of Christmas which can be found here:  http://timholtz.typepad.com/my_weblog/2009/12/12-tags-of-christmasday-7.html and i am also entering this into Sunday Stamper. As Hels wanted something a little Christmassy i decided to try and follow all of the techniques used in Tim Holtz's demo and stuck with the Christmassy theme with different stamps. (only cause i never had the ones he used !!!) Anyway it was great making this tag...... I put to use some of the techniques that i learned with Linda Elbourne at her ranger master class which was fab.  I had a bit of a nightmare though with the stamping of the sentiment as i did'nt have a "Merry Christmas" stamp (can you believe that!! I have hundreds of Stamps but no Merry Christmas will need to rectify that me thinks.....) Any way i thought i would use a noel stamp by magnolia so stamped it up in distress emboss and then as i only had a red lustre embossing powder i used that ..............yes well the less said about that the better i think!!! Hence why you are seeing a nice bright noel stamped up in snowcap dabber on some of the glassine paper!!!  Apart from the galsine paper i think the tag turned out quite well.......what do you think ? Anyway enough of me rambling i am sure you want to see the tag .....well here it is......What do you think ........

Feel free to leave a comment i love to hear from you ..... thats all from me as i don't think i will have time to enter Simon Says Stamp and show this week ......oh well there is always next week......bye for now .....catch up with you soon. Mandy x

Products used:
Stampers Anonymous Letter to Santa and Seasons Silouettes and a music script stamp i had.
Festive Berries and Evergreen Bough (i got them they are fab fab fab !!)
Worn lipstick and peeled paint distress stickles
Snowcap Dabber
Glassine Paper
And Believe philosophy tag.

Simon says Stamp and Show a House and Backgrounds

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for stopping by..... Here we go for another challenge at Simon Says Stamp and Show a House and I am also entering this into the Artistic stampers Challenge of the month of Backgrounds.

This was a really hard challenge for me as i have never tried anything like this before. As far as i have ever gone are tags and cards ..... on to wooden no not me......then i thought why not give it a go. So as you can see i had a shell of a wooden House bought at Indigoblu. First of all i read somewhere that you have to give it a base coat of something so then you can stamp onto it...... so thats what i did.....White Acrylic paint. I let that  dry and then got out my stamps and began to play to see what would happen . Stamps used are Studio 490 an abundance of them and one stampers Anonymous stamp out of bitty grunge (the star).

and there's more!

I used other bits and bobs that i had lying around. The DI's fired brick, spiced marmalade, victorian velvet, and rusty hinge. For the outside frame i used distress stain and stamped over the top with a text block. which looks a bit like tissue tape.

I enjoyed doing this so thankyou for the challenge..... Maybe i will try another but with a dark pallette. I think i need to stock up on bits and bobs though to put inside . Thankyou for your time.... catch up with you again real soon .... i am off to blog hop and have a peek at the inspiration..... bye xxx

One Colour and Perfect Distress

Hi There,
Thanks for stopping by.... The Challenges that i am entering this tag into are:
Simon Stamp and Show says "One Colour"
Linda Ledbetter on the Grungy Monday 24 "Perfect Distress" http://www.timholtz.com/vid_perfectdistress.htm. A demmo can be found on this link.

For the tag background I used the wrinkle free technique using Dusty Concord and Chipped Sapphire I then used chipped sapphire again to stamp up  the town and bitty grunge. I then cut flowers from the Alterations range in Glassine paper and then made up some perfect distress with the powders and egg plant adirondack ink and sprayed them over the flowers a few times with drying in between. It makes it shine which is cool but difficult to pick up with the camera.   I hope you like this .... it came out really well i think, it makes it look like a stormy sky above the town ....not intended but a happy mistake to make.......Are there mistakes in crafting do you think or can we mostly cover them up to make them look like we meant it !!!!! I managed to use the colours from the same family.

Thanks for visiting and i will see you next time take care Mandy x

Stamps used from Stampers Anonymous Rockstar and Bitty Grunge.

Autumn Colours

Hi there
How are you today thanks for stopping by ........This is for the Artistic Stampers Monthly challenge of Autumn Colours you should stop by and join in the fun if you hav'nt already.
I had no idea what i was going to do for this challenge so waited for a couple of weeks to see if new DI's would come ......alas it was not to be so i used the old faithfuls instead.
The Stamps I used were all from Paper Artsy flora and fauna SIFF3,and HP1005. The Background Wild Honey. Frayed Burlap and Fired Brick. I used a bit tissue tape for the branch effect. I thought i would all tie in with Autumn. I hope you like this card. I am off to look at all the other cards now as they all give so much inspiration .....catch up with you soon x

Stripes

Hi Everyone,
Simon says Stripes for this weeks Simon Stamp and Show ...... so i thought i would play with my latest purchase of Alice and Wonderland stamp set by IndigoBlu "Alice II'' . What fun i had .... I like the way this card came out and it makes me laugh that i never know what i am going to do when i sit down.  I went for the monochrome look here with a little bit of Lilac in the mad hatters hat but the camera can't really pick that up.....shame it just adds a bit of colour. Used black soot distress inks and a mini attacher to attach the picture to the card for a bit of intrest. I hope you like this card .....can't wait for next week challenge.....off now to try and upload the artistic stamper challenge of Autumn......thanks for stopping by until next time .....x

Tim in 10

Hi there

Thanks for stopping by...
This card is all about the Grungy Monday 23 challenge run by Linda Ledbetter over at Studio 3 L seeing what could be created in ten mins using at least 1 of Tim Holtz Products. As i am new to all this and don't know how to do a link to his site I will just mention that you can find him at www.timholtz.com. Sorry about that but if anybody could give me any pointers i would be happy........
Anyway I  knew it had to be quick so inking a background for me was out of the question.... i decided to do a simple matt and layer from one of Tim's paper stashes and then needed some interest and dimension. I chose to stamp up a ticket using the Stampers Anonymous ticket stamps then stamped a sentiment inside this from the same stamp sheet. I then covered this with walnut distress ink and glued a fragment to the sentiment. This was then attached with some mini paper clips and glued in place. I did'nt think i would manage it in time as had finger trouble trying to get the clips on !!!
I enjoyed making this card as there was no time to dawdle .....hope you like it.  Have a great day x

Tim Holtz products used;
Lost and Found paper stash
Stampers Anonymous odds and ends CMS100
A Fragment
Mini Paper clips
Distress er
Aged Mahogany distress ink

Blue and Orange

Hello Everyone
I have made this tag for the Sunday Stampers and the challenge this week was Blue and Orange. I did not know what to do so i just went with the flow using my new IndigoBlu stamp set Grand Tour II . I was quite pleased with how the tag came out. Firstly the background was coloured using spiced marmalade, rusty hinge, stormy sky and broken china. I then stamped the main image using  broken china and then off set and stamped the main image again using a black archival. I used the same stamp set for the words. The butterfly was stamped on grunge paper and coloured using broken china. I then made a flower out of tissue tape colouring again with the same ink pads and then adding an orange button for interest.
I had fun making this not knowing how it was going to turn out. I wanted to join in last week but never had the time to upload the image........sometime life just gets in the way.... Thanks for looking......going to play with alice and wonderland stamps next yeeha!! xx

numbers and men !

Hi All ,
For this card i used the faux leather technique, covering a piece of shiny card with masking tape in little bits and then colouring it over with vintage photo.  All the stamps are from creative expressions travel set. I stamped up the Eiffal tower in chocolate archival ink. the background was distressed with spiced marmalade and vintage photo with other images being stamped up in spiced marmalade and vintage photo.A Tim Holtz tag " Wander 6839" was added to chocolate ribbon and the imagine metal work was coloured using Tim Holtz re-inkers. Hope you like the card i had fun making it. Now to see if i can link up .......!!!!!
bye for now xx

I can't resist sweet treats !!!

So for the Sunday challenge I got a tag and using a Molly Bloom cake stamp I embossed the image using perfect medium and clear embossing powder. I then coloured all the tag with Worn Lipstick and Dusty Concord, then shined the cakes up with tissue.  I stamped the Molly bloom banner up then coloured it in with Pro Markers and added some candy to the ends. For the tag i used a few layers of Ultra thick embossing powder and then stamped a few flowers into the ink while it was still hot and finished it off with a piece of ribbon.  "I CANT RESIST SWEET TREATS" was added and a few doodles.

A pretty simple tag but fun to do anyway just enough inking to keep the urges at bay!!!!

Take Care xx
